Searches For 'Spring Break' Up 78 Percent Year Over Year

Yahoo! was the Top Spring Break Online Destination

NEW YORK, NY - March 23, 2007 - According to Hitwise, the world's leading online competitive intelligence service, the share of searches for the term "spring break" increased 78 percent year over year, for the week ending March 17, 2007 versus the week ending March 18, 2006.

Online portal Yahoo! received the most visits from the search term "spring break" for the week ending March 17, 2007. Following Yahoo was SpringBreak.com and SpringBreakWorld.com. Mixed in among the different spring break websites and destination spots were photo website Webshots Community, information resource website Wikipedia, top social networking website MySpace and cable network MTV Online.

"The increase in searches shows that college students are more actively using the web to plan their spring break activities", said LeeAnn Prescott, Director of Research at Hitwise. "Search Intelligence data provides a great insight into the online behavior of users and it is not surprising to see that Web 2.0 sites like Webshots and MySpace are among the top spots visited online."
